Moore Street Residents in Rolleston were forced to pay several thousand dollars a few years ago (or have it added to their rates) when Council installed a new sewerage system a few years ago. Most of their residents are on septic tanks. They are still forced to pay for the sewerage system in their current rates even though they are not connected to and DO NOT USE the council sewer!

If you were elected how would you correct this unfairness?

Would you pay back the thousands of dollars these people were forced to pay for a service they never had, use or want?

Many of these people a single income familes struggling to survive so the sewer rate charges really are a BIG DEAL and then the swimming pool charges are soon to come and be added on too. At least with a swimming pool we have the option to use it or not. To connect to the council sewer wil cost money and the rates would go up even more so this is not an option for the residents!
