I would like to know where councillors stand on the issue of new office premises. Stephen Cairns promised public consultation after the strong oppostion to siting a new building on the waterfront.. I haven't seen any consultation yet but I may have miised that.

Thanks for the question Janet. It is a matter for the new Council and consultation will come after some options are generated.
For me the imperative is quality working space for thestaff to carry out the functions of the Regional council

No, you haven\'t missed it. In recent months the old council reconsidered its approach to how we might provide suitable accommodation for the organization. We went no further because we didn\'t want to commit a new council which might have a different view. I hope that during 2011, we will be able to go to the Otago public with a range of options. Our staff are effective and productive but they will be even more so when they have modern, efficient, 21st century work space.
