As residents of Kaka Point we would like to know if you have any plans to make the the main seafront area safer by reducing traffic speed eg judder bars.

Hi Brian, The first thing that needs to be established is the need for more safety measures to be put in place, and while I don\'t doubt that you see it more than I do as I don\'t live in KP, the need to change has to be established first. We then need some answers if the need to change is going to be effected - is the 50kph limit not slowing vehicles enough? Should there be speed bumps? Should there be a pedestrian crossing? etc. It certainly warrants looking at, and I would suggest that an official request be sent to the Council to get the issue on the books. Thanks for your query. Mike.

Thank you for your question.  I am interested to know whether this issue has been raised with the Clutha District Council before and if so, what their response was.  I am supportive of steps being taken to ensure this area is safe for pedestrians and drivers and, with the support of local residents would lobby the Council for appropriate action to be taken.

I am aware that a Neighbourhood Watch Group is being established in KP so presume this will be discussed with this group as research indicates some of the ways to slow down traffic include: signage, road bumps (judder bars) along with neighbourhood speed watch and enforcement.
