Could you please tell me what your policy is regarding roading in the Hutt, particularly the upgrading of the Paremata Haywards Road SH58, upgrading SH2 Petone to Ngauranga, the cross valley link, and the Horokiwi Petone highway.

Thank you for the question.

I believe the Cross Valley Link is crucial to alleviating a number of problems in our area - traffic reduction on The Esplanade, reducing heavy truck traffic on Petone - Ngauranga stretch and supporting business and employment options in the Seaview/gracefield area.

Upgrading SH2 Petone - Ngauranga is also important, as we have seen with constant holdups with winter slips and heavvy peak congestion. That said i am very much in favour of train network upgrades to boost patronage and reliability of the system.

I think we need to look closely at SH 58 upgrades as needed to work in with Transmission Gully and the flow on of traffic to/from Hutt Valley.

I believe a road from Petone to Grenada is inevitable in the medium to long term, the question is routing and consultation to determine the best possible decision is made.

These are issues that I have consulted with the community over the years and attending many meetings on. The feedback was that there is support for the Cross Valley Link which will take the traffic off the Esplanade but SH2 will need to be upgraded in the big plan. Would need to look closely though that the Cross Valley Link does not cross to close to residental properites in Moera and Waiwhetu South.

The Petone Granada Link is not supported by residents in Korokoro where my community survey shows that nearly 90% of the community there are against it.

Those views of the community reflect my policy on the issues.
