I am glad you asked this important question..Currently I am proposing a Youth Job Programme, that I would like to see city council fund. The program would allow any tendered work that is rewarded to contractors, to allow youth to take part in the project. They would be required to have youth job applications available for work, in conjunction with the project. This would be great used through out Upper Hutt especially in community based projects eg. parks and reserves.

I also have proposed  a \"Wilderness Adventure Park\" that I would see designed in relation to some of the designs seen in Taupo and Rotorua. This park would have different levels of challenge, also a designated area for disabled youth etc. to challenge themselves through various adventures etc. Wellington tourism has already expressed interest in this project..great draw card for Upper Hutt , first for Wellington.

Liam , I truly believe as I have mentioned in my profile that Youth are the solution not the problem to Upper Hutts future. Yes there are folks that believe that all youth do is hang around malls and tag . I am not one of those pessimistic folks. I believe going forward council must empower youth and allow more outlets for youth to network with other positive youth. eg. I would like to see a nightclub, similar to ones I have visited in Wellington creating a safe and positive environment for youth to interact..It would be similar to the \"Cossie Club\" but for youth membership only.
