The Mahurangi Gym Club has been trying to get land, and build a Gymsports facility for this community for over 25 years now...........YES. 25 years!!
How can one person on the Super City Council possibly give us any hope that what has been started by the current council will continue?

Answer
Thank you Liz for your effort
\\r\\nFirstly, please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your most excellent question.
Your concern is of major importance in that it not only deals with a very sensitive issue for you and the community of Mahurangi but also raises a significant point for every Ward in the Greater Auckland area.
I recognise that what solutions may be presented here may constitute simply \\\'Lip Service\\\' but I give you my word that I am here to serve you and Greater Rodney.
\\r\\nI do not have my own agenda (although I do have innovative ideas) for what Rodney wants, needs or hopes to achieve. That is for you to decide and for me to implement. Here, you have brought forward a credible and realistic project that will warrant a thorough investigation by the New Auckland Council. This will be within my cause to affect, having a valid proposal with comprehensive history I am sure.
Of course, there must, in every case be, a sound method for compiling a simple form of democratic consensus, which will be the yard-stick to qualify any intended service, amenity and/or land and buildings. That being said, I get the feeling that this issue has been round the boardroom of council a number of times and plans will either be ready to go ahead or have been cast to the floor.
The \\\'Hope\\\' that you so passionately refer to cannot easily be qualified, except perhaps by way of my pledge, that I will do my very best to ensure that EVERY community has fundamental resources to empower their unique populations and environments. For example;
a) Access to facilities for the enhancement of Health, Balance and Well-being
b) Access to comprehensive education, information and self-sustaining technologies
c) Protection of their environment, living spaces and ageing population life enhancement programs.
This is by no means an exhaustive list but I hope it goes some way to giving an insight to my vision and commitment to Rodney and her people.
\\r\\nYours Sincerely
\\r\\nVincent Pereira

We\'ll need strong Local Boards, strong community representation and the right choice - a smart choice at Council level. We need to support candidates who will work with the community, not against it!

\\r\\nI know full well what you have been waiting for. The continuation of the AMP grounds is in the Long Term Plan which will be taken over by the Auckland Council. The building is in that plan. It will happen. At least for the first time we have a venue which we didn\\\'t before.
