Yes, I do live in the region I am standing, and I do think it\'s important. However, I don\'t think it should be mandatory, as some people may have a strong affiliation with an area that they might not live in at the time. For example, if I were standing for parliament, I would identify with the Port Hills electorate, rather than the Central City electorate that I am currently in. At this point in my life, I\'ve chosen to live in the central city, for work and leisure reasons, but was brought up at the bottom of the Cashmere Hills, and that\'s where a lot of my family is from. So I still strongly identify with that area.

I think that someone who lives outside the area can still stand, as long as they can justify it to both themselves and their potential constituents.

Yes I do think they should. I currently live in Riccarton but grew up in the ward and am planning to move back end of this year start of next.

Yes I strongly believe that a candidate should live in the ward they wish to represent

It is the real way to get an undestanding of what your community groups issues are and how they want you as

their representitive to work to resolving any issue that arises.

I am proud to say I live and work for community groups in the Hagley/ferrymead ward for 30yrs so far

with no expectations of leaving

Yes, this is important, wherever possible. But the key is that representatives must stay in touch with communty issues, and act accountably for them, wherever they may be based.

My experience as an Environment Canterbury councillor for Christchurch East has connected me with much of Hagley-Ferrymead ward already, especially on coastal and resilience concerns. There is much more that I need to do, as consultation with all the relevenat community groups, however. I look forward to that future.

As a Cashmere resident of 18 years, planning to relocate to New Brighton currently, I greatly identify with the hillside environment. I lived in Linwood as a youht and well understand the social issues we have to address constructively in the central city.
