- Transport - West Auckland is hugely dependent on the Northwestern Motorway to get around our city. For most West Aucklanders, public transport is not a realistic option, particularly if you live in West Harbour, Massey or Te Atatu. With the redevelopment of the Northwestern and the Hobsonville Deviation coming online shortly, there has never been a better time to build dedicated busways alongside the motorway in the west, similar to what North Shore residents enjoy. Better public transport helps everyone - it helps to free up the roads for those that need to drive (such as tradesmen). With most West Auckland workers traveling to other parts of Auckland to work every day, transportation out west needs some serious attention.
- Encouraging local businesses and industry to employ local workers and invest in our community - like most West Aucklanders, I travel to other parts of Auckland to work everyday. We need to encourage local business to employ more locals and put their profits back into our community. This can only be done through investment in local education and training, giving West Aucklanders the skills that local businesses need.
- Preservation of Local Facilities - It is hugely important that all West Auckland public faculties (such as pools, community centres, libraries and parks) remain publicly owned and well maintained under the Supercity.
- Costs. Rates are high. Good planning and good infrastructure are expensive but rates have been increasing by more than the rate of inflation for many years. If elected to the Board I will not have any power over the setting of the city's budgets but I will advocate for the reduction of expenses which cannot be justified.
- Strong West Auckland voice in order to preserve our unique identity - there's no debate; West Auckland is a great place to live. We need to preserve what makes West Auckland great, in particular, our diverse communities, the Waitakere Ranges and West Auckland beaches.
- Protection of our villages, communities, beaches, parks and green belts is vital.
- Improve roading and increase public transport with better and more cost effective services and links.
- Attack graffiti. Get the culprits dealt with.
- GST on rates is a tax on a tax. This money should be in your pocket. No rate rise.
- Deal with dangerous dogs. There are to many innocent children being attacked. The law needs looking at.
