Electing 4 Board Members

No issues on file for Pauline Anderson.

  1. Retaining our local identity within the Supercity

  2. Keeping our water supply in public ownership

  3. Listening to all groups within the community

  4. Supporting public transport, libraries and other community amenities

  5. Calming traffic in our residential streets
  1. Protect our community with a zero tolerance for graffiti and crime
  2. Better communication and more effective consultation with the community. Effective plans and projects without unproductive political and personal agendas

  3. Enhancing and protecting the character of our community, it’s heritage, and helping create a prosperous and vibrant place to live.
  4. Improving and seeking more access to parks and reserves in our ward for our children and the generation to follow.
  1. Empowering the local community to have their say in local decision-making through an inclusive participatory approach. By including people in local decision-making, a degree of collaboration is achieved where good workable ideas can come to the fore.
  2. Putting the ‘local’ back into our communities by building strong, vibrant town centres that attract good businesses; making our neighborhoods clean and safe; funding essential services such as libraries, recreation and sport facilities and funding basics such as footpaths.
I support strengthening the 'heart' of our town centres by supporting local businesses that provide necessary services to the local community.
  3. Working towards greater protection and enhancement of our parks, reserves, beaches, volcanic cones and urban waterways. We need to support the many volunteers, community groups and stakeholder representatives who do so much work for the betterment of the environment and our community.
  4. Listening to the community on issues and developments that affect them. We need to hear your voice on issues such as mitigation for SH20 Waterview Connection, development of the Mt. Albert and Pt. Chevalier precinct plans, the Westfield St. Lukes expansion, management of Owairaka Mountain and public transport choices for the area. For too long, local politicians have purported to know what the community wants and what is best for them. Listening has not been a strong point. We need to provide a forum where people can have their say on local issues and developments – should they choose to. This might involve focus or working groups, board members attending community group meetings, providing a ‘local’ website where people can post comments and having board members that are full-time and accessible. Attending a board meeting once a month whilst holding down a fulltime job is just not going to cut it anymore.
  5. Keeping rates at a level that is fair and affordable for ordinary people. It is always a ‘balancing act’ to provide for future growth and development that meets peoples’ needs and at the same time keep rates at a level that everyone can afford. By involving the community in preparing local board plans, we can find out what is needed and what will work. We can then prioritize and work towards achieving community goals in a methodical way that avoids throwing huge amounts of ratepayers’ money at ‘half-baked’ ideas that nobody really wants.

  1. Enhance local identity within the Supercity

I will work to build and support local character within each of our neighbourhoods while ensuring equity of access to resources and facilities.

  2. Calm traffic in our residential streets

I will support measures to minimize and slow through traffic (rat runners) in quiet residential streets to make our neighbourhoods safer and quieter.
  3. Rejuvenate our run-down town centres

I will champion efforts to enliven our local town centres through improvements to the environment and by supporting initiatives to increase business and community activities.
  4. Protect and enhance our urban streams

I will continue my work through schools and stream care groups to improve water quality in our local streams (Oakley and Meola Creeks, etc.) and work with private property owners to extend and improve vegetation along stream banks.

  5. Protecting the environment around the SH20 motorway.

I am committed to continuing the fight on behalf of the community to get the best deal we can for the affected communities, their parks and neighbourhoods.
  1. 1. ZERO TOLERANCE TO CRIME
Zero tolerance to crime, littering, tagging and destruction of public and private property. I will work with the Police, Community groups and residents to ensure all people and property are safe. Greater protection for our hard working business owners and honest shoppers will be my priority. I will work hard to ensure shopping precincts have greater security, better lightening, more parking.
  2. 2. REVOKE LIQUOR LICENCES
Revoke licences to off-licence premises. I will work hard to ensure off-licences are removed from within a 3k radius of all schools, public parks and reserves.
  3. 3. CHAMPION LOCAL HEROES
Support Community groups and their work.
I will work hard to ensure community groups have access to resources and facilities so they can get on with working for locals.
  4. 4. MORE BUSINESSES FOR LOCAL CENTRES
Champion a return of businesses to local areas. I will work with Business Associations to have small businesses return to local centres
    and shopping blocks.
  5. 5. PROTECTION OF WĀHI TAPU AND ICONIC LANDMARKS
To ensure the historical uniqueness of the area is maintained I will champion the efforts of manawhenua/tangatahwhenua maintaining wāhi tapu and all those groups working towards the preservation of iconic landmarks.
  1. CONNECTED AND SAFE COMMUNITIES - Neighbours that watch out for one another, creating safe neighbourhoods that work together for the common good.

It's not difficult and it's not about breaching one anothers privacy or prying. What it is about is taking a concern for the street we live in, making an effort to be involved in what's going on; ensuring that leaders within each street and neighbourhood have the support from Local Board representatives for their issues and concerns to be both heard, and responded to.
  2. PROSPEROUS LOCAL BUSINESSES - locals supporting locals.

Shopping locally helps our fellow locals. Some areas in the Owairaka subdivision have thriving business hubs of great personality and culture, yet others appear to have been left by the wayside. Cameron wants each area to offer opportunity and promise to those who go into business, and Cameron leads by example by supporting businesses local to him.
  3. APPROACHABLE AND RESPONSIVE - Cameron will listen and respond to you!

Cameron will listen to your issues, and be approachable so that you can feel confident in the knowledge that a real person, with a caring perspective for your needs is interested in helping you. Not a call centre or a name without a face - Cameron is local, and will be there for you.

  1. Accountability:
    HONESTY HONESTY AND HONESTY!

  2. Community:
STRENGTHENING AND PROTECTING OUR VIBRANT COMMUNITY

Citizens and Ratepayers recognise the individual neighbourhoods and cultural communities that combine as the fabric of the Owairaka subdivison.

We need to feel safe in our community. I will not tolerate anti-social behaviour on our streets and in our communities, and will advocate vigorously for effective policing.

I will encourage and support arts, sport and cultural activities across our neighbourhoods. I will work collaboratively with community, cultural and sports groups to help build amazing facilities.

Our multi-cultural communities are at the heart of our unique culture. My team will strengthen our rich culture working with Maori and local Iwi, with Pasifika, and other ethnic and community groups. We will promote and invest in programmes that celebrate the things we share and recognise our diversity - both of which will make Owairaka the best place to live.
  3. Environment:
    PRESERVING AND ENHANCING OUR ENVIRONMENT

We are proud of our unique environment, with its combination of Beautiful beaches, creeks, waterfalls, Volcanoes, parks, local farm and schools as well as the architectural heritage across the area

I will ensure we preserve and protect our environmental assets, while allowing individuals the freedom to enjoy and improve their urban and rural private property.

High quality low-cost designs and planning will be encouraged together with the sensible management of growth and development.

We will advocate for stricter vehicle emissions standards to improve our Region’s air quality, and enhance the water quality in all our streams and beaches.
  4. Affordability:
CREATING AN AFFORDABLE AREA TO LIVE AND WORK IN

You know that living in this area can be expensive. I am determined to minimize the burden on households and businesses by extracting savings from the new, streamlined council arrangements.

As a team Citizens and Ratepayers will channel investment into the essential infrastructure our local communities need. We will commit to keeping our rates as low as possible without decreasing the core services that residents expect.

We will deliver you better value for money. We will keep Auckland Council spending under control by focusing on core local government activities and services. We will focus on essential Auckland Council services and not duplicate central government’s welfare functions locally.

Water and waste water costs will be kept to the minimum necessary to maintain a world class system
  5. Transport:
MAKING IT EASIER TO GET AROUND

Citizens and Ratepayers will invest in transport options which enable more of us to move around more conveniently.

We will commit to essential public transport and roading infrastructure for people and goods. An effective single ticketing system for public transport will be implemented.

We will ensure that the new Auckland Transport agency works constructively with central government to complete the motorway network and major arterial routes across the Region.

We will ensure careful benefit cost consideration is undertaken before ratepayers’ money is invested in these major projects.
  1. Safer Communities:
-better lighting around our parks, reserves,
schools, train stations, bus stops and streets.
    -grafitti free neighbourhoods.
  2. Better Access To Public Facilities:
    -better parking space around shopping
    centres, restaurants and sports fields.
    -new indoor sporting venue/facilities that
cater for the needs of our children, young
    people and adults.
  3. Transport Solutions:
-Good public transport system will be the key.
-slowing traffic in our residential streets.
  4. Protection Of Our Heritage:
-We have a rich heritage which is part of our
Kiwi identity. It is important to protect our
    landmarks and other heritage sites.
  5. Public Control Of Our Assets:
-Stop the sale of any public assets belonging
    to the people.
  1. Making our voice heard at a local and regional level. The new "Supercity" must work for our communities. I will continue to promote our communities in the new structure.
  2. Work for better outcomes for the community and environment around SH20. NZ's biggest transport project must deliver better mitigation for our ward. Transport projects within our area must be solutions that balance people, the environment and sustainability.
  3. Promote safer streets and communities. The targeted work of our Local Board will be essential in making this happen.
  4. Support families to build strong communities. Families and neighbours are key to building strong and resilient communities. I will continue to work at a community level.
  5. Useable local parks for everyone. Better, safer and easier access to parks for all members of our communities.
