Would like to see more work done in house but can't justify in-house staff for one off projects like Airport extensions, Industrial Estate Development, Art Gallery/Museum design etc. Government regulation for bridges, water supply upgrades that carry Govt. subsidy etc need specialist staff. - Community Safety. Council provides Street Ambassadors to work night shift in CBD, is installing more CCTV cameras and via Safer Community Council gets over half million dollars to assist in areas of truancy, family violence, restorative justice etc. from Government Departments annually. Currently lobbying for tighter liquor controls.
- 2nd Bridge Issue
Like all projects, needs options to focus on. Site definitely not chosen. Grove Street not my preferred link. Unlikely to be constructed for at least 8 years. Consultation continuing. Everyone still has opportunity for input. - In Committee Discussions.
When items such as buying land for development purposes, setting lease values, negotiations involving privacy of individuals arise, it is entirely appropriate that the persons involved should not hear of decisions by public media. Nearly all decisions are released once those directly involved have been notified. Closely monitored by LGNZ
