Committed to west Auckland and passionate about representing those I’ve lived with for more than 35 years – having lived in picturesque Titirangi for over 20 years I am passionate about conserving our environment and keeping NZ green, preserving our unique Waitakere ranges and helping the community to work together to restore democracy.

Service to others is a key component of my life and if elected I will serve you with the same vision, values and vigor I’ve always displayed.

I will work to ensure that the needs of west Auckland are heard loud and clear at local board meetings. That will also require me to liaison with whoever is selected as our ward councillors and that commitment I gladly give. Team work is an important part of achievement and the complexities and challenges of a new city will present us with many challenges and opportunities to deliver for west Auckland – we will deliver.

Top 5 Issues

  1. Rates. A fair rating system for all rate payers.
Water is a basic human right and should be provided at minimal cost with no charge for waste water.
Keep public assets in public ownership. ie parks, community houses, libraries.......restore local democracy!
  2. Environment.I am ardent about the environment and the protection of our Waitakere Ranges. Receptacles should be placed at all parks and reserves for dog owners. Educating people on recycling, litter left on our beaches, these are major issues and need to be addressed.
All environmental issues are of great concern and with education we can overcome this.
  3. Kids at risk. Finding ways to keep these children off the streets. Community centres that can combine resources for programmes to encourage youth to exert their energy in more productive ways. By caring and teaching these young people how to respect others. Graffiti, street crime, these are issues that concern us all and are not acceptable.
  4. Our elderly. This is an issue very dear to me. We need our elderly to be cared for with dignity and respect. There is much to learn from them and they can teach us a lot. They need to feel safe in their environment, in their homes, and not feel threatened or intimidated by others.
  5. Lastly, I will listen to your views, I will work hard for you giving local people a voice, I will be heard, I will support you and I promise you, I will work arduously to get a result.

Personal Profile

Born in Wellington, from a farming background has given me the passion of living in a rainforest environment in Titirangi.  Conserving our environment and preserving the Waitakere Ranges is close to my heart. I love the beach, my pets, walking around my area and enjoying the clean fresh air. Family is very important to me, I have a married son living in Japan and a daughter finishing her degree at Auckland University. Both children having travelled and lived abroad has been beneficial in appreciating what New Zealand has to offer.

Having travelled extensively and worked overseas I have an insight to many different cultures and their diverse ways. I believe this has given me exceptional interpersonal skills maintained with people from all cultures and social backgrounds. My understanding and respecting other cultures has helped me in my professional life as a teacher of English and  Adult Literacy. I am open-minded, able to listen and understand others point of view and communicate ideas in a clear and confident manner. I have a positive personal attitude to work and personal life.

I am a member of my local ratepayers and residents association and I support many charitable organizations.
