Tryphena has been my home for 16 years and I have visited the island since the 60's. Before moving here I developed business' in the tyre, food, leisure and graphic/publishing industries. I was contracted by Taranaki Regional Authorities and Ministry of Commerce for five years as executive director of the Taranaki Regional Development/ Business Development Board. After moving to the Barrier, a home−stay business, landscaping and feature stonework, using local materials, has supported my artistic lifestyle. My current project is a stone carving for the Claris Airfield in partnership with local iwi. If elected my focus, will be to support a strong local voice and initiative, speaking out against exploitive developments. To encourage all residents and ratepayers to participate in island affairs, in particular the younger members of our community. Great Barrier is home and this unique and beautiful island's people have much to offer New Zealand.
