You and I have been working for the majority of our lives, striving for worth, and some of us struggling, with commendable purpose.

The reason for our toil was for the benefit of ourselves in later life and for our children as they entered the world.

To afford our own home,
To be able to provide for our family,
To have employment available at all class levels of society,

Our taxes, we paid happily, ensuring an affordable standard of living that was inherently available to us all.

We stood with dignity, having an understanding that we shall be able to pass on to our children, a legacy.
To show them, that we were here for them, even though they were not aware of our efforts.

We HELPED each other, PROTECTED one another and looked OUT for our neighbours.
We selflessly gave of our time and resources, without expecting anything in return, but knowing, full well, that the return would be forthcoming.

What happened to us …?

Local and Central government policies have high-jacked our communities.

Many of our community families are unable to afford the food on their tables, let alone being able to purchase their own home.
We are overburdened with debt.
From households, to the halls of government, we have encouraged debt and we have encouraged welfare.

The very fabric of our communities has disintegrated because of the escalation of corporate interest over family interest, in turn, stifling our sense of community spirit.

It is my agenda, as your elected representative, to begin to reverse at least some of these un-healthy, off-balanced, wealth diminishing ideologies.

Quality of Life initiatives MUST be explored.

We CAN revive the ‘FEEL-GOOD’ factor that has evaded us for far too long.

Leading from the front, I will represent this effort

I submit, that the way forward is not political …
Neither is it economic …
If we, the people, can take back the right, to govern ourselves, at a grass roots level,
Then, we start to be in a position, to at least begin to control … SOCIAL Policy.

Lets begin, with a ‘QUALITY of LIFE’ mandate, that is real … for us … today.

Based on Integrity for us all, I ask, that you choose me, to represent you.

On behalf of our children for their education, protection and security,
for our grandparents, in respect of their significant contribution to our freedoms
and for the inner health and well-being of us all.

I ask, that you choose me, to represent you.

Vote for me, Vincent Pereira.

I am ‘The Right Choice’

Top 5 Issues

  1. Sensible Governance of the People,
for the people and by the people.

Establishment of A Collective National Moral Compass. Clear and Decisive direction for the well-being of the people in our local communities
  2. Wellsford to Puhoi Highway

The potential for the region ranges far and wide in terms of commerce and industry, affordable homes for families and travel distance for central workers or Holiday makers.
After these elections, the Hyper Expansion of Greater Auckland will emerge. It is important as we move forward in our progression that we install a harmony of checks and balances, to ensure the sensible location of new resources, minimise the impact on locally established communities and enable access to commercial investment for the development of our great regional area.

  3. Fibre Optics is Big Business.

Outer City Small Business, Home Business, communities and families are being undermined in pursuit of the corporate profits in the form of high pricing structures when all we simply want is an affordable broadband service available to us all.

To nationalize a carrier to subsidise and provide for this would justify a rates bill. We pay for everything else. Big Business can pay for Big Fibre.

  4. Stick to Our Knitting.

Remember where this country's strength comes from. Farming Communities have been, quite literally, the bread and butter of the economy. You can’t eat a computer chip.

As a stakeholder/citizen of my country, I'd like to see us integrate our farms as training establishments, providing an educational pool of talented, innovate, free thinking and solid human beings of character.

The world market doesn't supply the grass 'our ' cows eat.
  5. Family Farms not Factory Farms

When will we finally understand that we are organically tied to mother earth.
We are what we eat and how we treat the land, beasts and environment has a direct impact on our well-being.
We must understand and expand on this vital relationship in its most important manifestation – Our food and water.
Lets get Physically, Mentally and Spiritually healthy!

Personal Profile

In the spirit of democracy and as a man of integrity, I stand as an Independent candidate in the Local Body Elections for the RODNEY WARD, to present a ‘Quality of Life’ mandate under the New Governing Structure for Auckland.

New leaders and new ideas ensure that representation is fresh and inspired. Initiatives for community engagement are paramount, understanding that the ultimate caretakers for the well-being of the people are the people.

With community focused contribution programs we will share in successful innovations with a view to decreasing our rates and taxation obligations utilising self sustaining initiatives.

Healthy living concepts and educational camps, growing mentally, physically and spiritually robust humans being.

Together we will provide the Councils of Local and Central Government, an example of a powerful population in control of its destiny.

Vote ‘Vincent Pereira’ - I am ‘The Right Choice’

Auckland Council

In 2009, the ’Royal Commission for Auckland Governance’ confirmed that the current Council structure was hindering the development and growth of Auckland, leading to the formation of the Auckland Council.

For us,  to have changed the form of Governance in Auckland we must have realised that there are better options.

If we can have counsel, reflective of the current times, we start to be in a position, to at least begin to control social and economic policy with a quality of life mandate that is real, today.

Currently working in the community and having an intimate understanding of peoples everyday working lives,  I have a calm disposition with an emphasis on family values. Without the baggage of policies or politics, … I am, as I am.

Independent while embracing co-operation, I wish to see you all and your rural communities, flourish over the next 3 years and when elected, I will come to visit you in every single one of them.

I am leaning toward self sufficient and sustainable communities. The Protection of Our food and water supplies is paramount. Quality of life initiatives will be explored for community.

Based on Integrity for us all, I wish to represent you.

On behalf of our children in their education, I wish to represent you.

And for our grandparents, and their significant contribution to our freedoms, I wish to represent you.

Vote for me, Vincent Pereira.

And I will deliver for you the Right Choice.

The Following is a realistic take on what I want to see achieved ... As we move through the 21st Century.

  1. Embrace our sense of “Make local” “Buy Local”
  2. Affordable Broadband available to 99% of Rural and Urban communities.
  3. Opening up of the greater Auckland region via the Puhoi to Wellsford Highway and beyond,
  4. Enabling more housing development with lower cost options
  5. Through the clever use of locally established policies, communities with a theme to environmental harmony can begin to populate across the region.
  6. Healthy living concepts (Living Kitchens) and educational camps, growing mentally, physically and spiritually robust humans being.
  7. With community focused contribution programs we will share in successful innovations with a view to decreasing our rates and taxation obligations utilising self sustaining initiatives.
  8. We need to protect our country. We have left our doors wide open with the best of intentions but now we must put in place protective policies for the retention of our core industries and STOP selling our national assets. In terms of 'Protectionism' The "Comparative Advantage" argument has lost its legitimacy in a globally integrated world, in which capital is free to move internationally. We can and should install protectionist policies.

Arts or Sports?

Thank you Liz for your question.

I am unaware of the \'WW Showgrounds Sports Complex\' that you are refering to, however, may I be so bold as to refer you to the previous question asked \"How will we be heard? \"

Also, may I take the liberty to point out that ... it is not the role of your council representative to provide a view on what it is that the community needs, wants or desires. That was the role of the previous form of Governance. Now, we have a real chance at forging a new way ahead, with compassionate and empathetic leaders who are prepared to listen and become aware of their community.

Your Local board representatives are empowered to take the reins of your vision and carve out a path to acheiving those aspirations, while the governing body creates platforms/arenas for these ideas to be materialized. Working in tandem, these two creative forces are the engine room of the community. You are the driver!

Warm regards

PS. I see no reason why these two facilities can\'t be combined into a 21st Century Community Centre

How will we be heard?

Thank you Liz for your effort

\\r\\n

Firstly, please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your most excellent question.
Your concern is of major importance in that it not only deals with a very sensitive issue for you and the community of Mahurangi but also raises a significant point for every Ward in the Greater Auckland area.

\\r\\n

I recognise that what solutions may be presented here may constitute simply \\\'Lip Service\\\' but I give you my word that I am here to serve you and Greater Rodney.

\\r\\n

I do not have my own agenda (although I do have innovative ideas) for what Rodney wants, needs or hopes to achieve. That is for you to decide and for me to implement. Here, you have brought forward a credible and realistic project that will warrant a thorough investigation by the New Auckland Council. This will be within my cause to affect, having a valid proposal with comprehensive history I am sure.
Of course, there must, in every case be, a sound method for compiling a simple form of democratic consensus, which will be the yard-stick to qualify any intended service, amenity and/or land and buildings. That being said, I get the feeling that this issue has been round the boardroom of council a number of times and plans will either be ready to go ahead or have been cast to the floor.

\\r\\n

The \\\'Hope\\\' that you so passionately refer to cannot easily be qualified, except perhaps by way of my pledge, that I will do my very best to ensure that EVERY community has fundamental resources to empower their unique populations and environments. For example;
a) Access to facilities for the enhancement of Health, Balance and Well-being
b) Access to comprehensive education, information and self-sustaining technologies
c) Protection of their environment, living spaces and ageing population life enhancement programs.

\\r\\n

This is by no means an exhaustive list but I hope it goes some way to giving an insight to my vision and commitment to Rodney and her people.

\\r\\n

Yours Sincerely

\\r\\n

Should we sell our forests?

Thanks Geoff for you effort. A very sensible question to be sure.

The enhancement, protection and conservation of our environment is vitally important to not only our current generation but the integrity of our future in terms of green belts, carbon neutralisation and environmental aesthetics.

Land is not getting any cheaper and short of some catastrophic volcanic event, I don’t see much more land being made available to us for the next decade or beyond.

It just would not make sound fiscal sense to be selling off any land holdings in my opinion at this point in time.

In fact, I do see advantages in the current climate for the clever purchasing of strategic lands in view of the Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP)
