As a Consulting Engineer to the Marine, Power, Oil and Dairy Industries I design, install and commission industrial plants world wide.

 

When Project Engineering in New Plymouth I designed and installed dairy factory and golf course irrigation and pipeline systems.

 

I was the New Zealand Manager of an international company specializing in the dairy and food industry.

 

Whilst I was the Managing Director of my civil and transport engineering business we contracted with Hamilton City Council for three $3 million dollar storm water pipelines. My first novel was based on those contracts.

 

I support expenditure on basic utilities but will not support bizarre demands on ratepayers.

 

Previous councillors were only given enough information to make a ‘yes or no’ decision on major projects. I have the mechanical and civil engineering knowledge to challenge irresponsible proposals and that will drive the rates down.

1. Stop the spending!
   
   The NPDC desperately needs professional and technically qualified councillors with a sound business reputation to challenge irresponsible demands on council.
   
   I will do this for you.
2. Outrageous and unjustifiable budgets must be terminated immediately and scrutinize by the refreshing new line-up of councillors.
   
   I will do this for you.
3. The CEO must arrest the astonishing staff escalation along with their vehicles and stop unwarranted international travel.
   
   This is an issue that requires full council input but collectively it must be address.
4. Apparently TIML has lost $72m of the Powerco money.
   
   Astonishingly TIML has invested 38% of the Powerco capital into Tasman Farms Ltd. Sadly TFL is operating at a loss and will not return a profit for several years.
   
   Apparently the NPDC has now invested an additional $13.5m into this disastrous scheme.
   
   This nonsense is now a 'fait accompli' and cannot be salvaged without squandering many more millions.
   
   This is why it is mandatory that the previous NPDC unqualified councillors be replaced with professional business persons.
5. The Sister Cities lunacy must end.
   
   This is on a par with the Oakura Sewerage scheme, the Huatoki Plaza, the new cemetery debacle, the duck pond thing, the hydro slide, the airport restaurant, the attempt to demolish the woman's restroom in the Huatoki Plaza, the intention to demolish the Pukekura Park kiosk, the bulldozed road through Pukekura Park, the Eco-friendly house manipulation and endless other wants.
