Retired professional engineer with degrees in physics and engineering. J.P. and Marriage Celebrant. Currently a full time sitting councillor, having served 3 terms as councillor and community board member, holding portfolios, in Roading, Drainage, Water, Sewerage, Refuse, Pensioner Housing and Building Consents. In my second term I held the portfolios of Chairman, Transport, Drainage and Utilities committee, Chairman, Northland Road Safe Forum, and member of the Regional Transport Committee. I want to see committees reinstated, and staff replaced with an elected member on the very important Regional Transport Committee to accomplish more government road funding. I will continue to investigate for a mid−north subsidised passenger transport system. I will support the empowerment of community boards as the true voice of the community, reduce the high compliance costs of building, restrain spending of ratepayers funds unnecessarily, and motivate council to realize the Bay of Islands is the scenic Capital of Northland.
