Christina (Tina) Steunebrink has lived in Manurewa for 20 years. She and her husband John were long time Weymouth residents before moving to Wattle Downs. She is the chairperson of the Wattle Downs Residents' and Ratepayers' Association. Tina's and John's three children Caleb, Amy and Greg all attended local schools. Tina worked as a teacher aide at Weymouth Primary School. She also taught Bible in Schools for 6 years. Tina has previously set up Neighbourhood Support groups so that she can know her neighbours. She has been active in the Clendon and Manurewa Baptist churches, and more recently with the Elim South and Cityway churches. Tina wants to see local roads, footpaths and streetlights maintained to a high standard, as well as the provision of reliable buses and commuter trains. She also supports the beautification of local parks and esplanade reserves.

Top 5 Issues
- I will be standing for erradication of street prostitution in Manurewa. Lets clean up our town's reputation and put it on the map for being a pleasant place to drive through and stop for a coffee.
- I will be assisting in overhauling the Sale of Liquor Act and will use powers vested in me to regulate both on and off-licence liquor outlets in Manurewa. Lets change the culture of our town to be more into sport than liquor.
- Water bills - I will be supporting the policy that Watercare will be legally obliged to provide water at the lowest possible price.
- I will be 100% behind supporting the provision of sports clubs and facilities for the youth and children of Manurewa. Lets see our children rise to become great achievers like those who have gone before e.g. Scott Dixon.
- Local roading and transport - I will be supporting greater flexibility to approve through the Manurewa Local Board the installing of traffic claiming devices where needed most. Plus lets get all our street lights working and make our town a safer place to live in.
Personal Profile
Hi there everyone, my name is Tina Steunebrink, I am a long time resident of Manurewa. I am married to John for nearly 30 years, we have three lovely adult children. Caleb in London with wife Maree, Amy a nurse in Browns Road superclinic, and Greg plumber apprentice.
Currently I am the chairperson of Wattle Downs Residents and Ratepayers and on average we have about 40+ people attending our meetings. I really enjoy getting stuck in and getting things done so as a residents group we have had a wattle tree eradication around Wattle Downs pond and embankment areas. We had BNZ staff come out and do a beach cleanup and painting session around our area. We planted 500 native trees weekend before last around the banks and pond area of new part of Wattle Downs. We also have had John Banks out to visit at one of our meetings and over 100 people attended.
I have worked for the NZ Police for 6 years as a typist at Otahuhu a job that I really enjoyed as I am passionate about community involvement and that it is not all about me. In 2008 I decided time to get off my chair and attend MIT to complete Horticulture Certificate L4 and came top of the class.
Currently I am working out at the Hamlin Farm as Tutor Assistant doing the practical side of assisting students with L2 & 3 horticulture. The students are special in that the all come from the mental health dept. I also work for The Plant People and maintain office plants throughout Auckland City.
I am attending the Elim Church South and also attend Cityway Church from time to time. Previously I attended the Manurewa Baptist for 14 years and was a Deacon and Womens Ministry Chair - both roles I enjoyed.
I am a member of the Manukau Hotrod Association.
Also member of the Manurewa Horticultural Society.
Plus new member of the Manurewa Cossie Club.
VOTE FOR TINA STEUNEBRINK - the FRESH FACE IN TOWN who wants to make a difference. I am a positive friendly person and want the running of the Manurewa Township and surrounding area to be a fantastic place to live. I will endeavour to make policies that will make MANUREWA a safer and cleaner place to live and one where the children are encouraged to succeed in the area of arts, sport, politics, engineering - whatever it takes to make us rise up and become winners.
