Therese has lived in Weymouth with her family for 26 years. She supported her children and community by being a Board trustee for Weymouth Intermediate and James Cook High Schools for 11 years. Therese is passionate about her community and the families that live there. She has been secretary for the Weymouth Residents and Ratepayer Association and devoted 11 years to working within Play centre, believing that if we strive for child− friendly communities then we all benefit. Therese has been a truancy officer in Manurewa working with schools, families, police and the community. Therese won the coveted National 'Every Child Counts' Award this year for her work. Currently Therese is a member of the Manukau Child Advocacy Group, has just finished a placement with the Health and Disability Commissioner. She is a facilitator at Strengthening Families.
