I'm applying for this position because I genuinely want to contribute to our community. I feel I've got something to offer; fresh ideas, energy and commitment.

Based on my experience of the care offered to my disabled daughter, I believe NMDHB provides a great service in a challenging environment; I'd now like to contribute to a process of constant improvement.

We need to foster more equality of healthcare across our communities.

We also need to find more effective core communication messages to encourage more personal responsibility.

I'm 46, committed to the region long term, hold a post graduate degree in business administration and intend to complete my masters before 2015.

For the last eight years I've been group general manager for Matthews Eyewear & Eyecare. For the ten years prior to that I had a business consultancy which has worked with NMDHB. I've also just recently returned to business consulting.

Conflicts of Interest

To the best of my knowledge and belief, I have no conflicts of interest with the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board (NMDHB) at the date of my notice of consent to being nominated as a candidate for membership of the board of NMDHB.

I do not believe that any such conflicts of interest are likely to arise in the future, except that one of my clients, Matthews Eyewear Eyecare, may tender for the provision of Diabetic Retinal Screening across the top of the South for NMDHB and in the event that they are successful in this tender I may have a conflict of interest in this regard.
