Steve's family has lived in Pakuranga for over five generations, and he's determined to see that what is important to Pakuranga and for that matter Howick and Botany is not lost in the transition to the super city. From the unique culture of our district, to our beaches, parks, and the safety of our residents both young and old.

Steve sits on the Pakuranga Community Board, as vice Chairman where he continues to fight to limit rate increases, as well as demanding financial accountability when it comes to council spending. Strategically he has pushed to accelerate solutions to Pakuranga's traffic problems.

A successful business career overseas and in NZ has proved a significant strength when it comes to getting the ratepayer value for their dollar and ensuring council stays focused on core services.

Steve is a family man, active sportsman and Rotarian.

Top 5 Issues

1. Rates must remain in line with or perferably lower than inflation. Solutions need to be found that prevent the elderly on fixed incomes (pensions) being rated out of their homes due to property value increases.
2. Roading that sevices the Howick Pakuranga Botany area is a mess and current planning that sees no significant changes until 2014 needs to be accelerated.
3. Domestic waste water charges need to be more fairly apportioned. The current flat waste water charge of $300 per household in Manukau penalises those that are careful with water while providing little incentive to save by those that use a lot of water.
4. Ferry services to Halfmoon Bay. The ferry terminal and parking issues need to be addressed urgently. Along with the level of current service provided (frequency)
