I attended Woodlands School and Opotiki College, then went dairyfarming, firstly at Waiotahi, then Woodlands. I'm now kiwifruit and avocado growing. I currently represent the Waioeka−Waiotahi ward and am Deputy Mayor, and I'm a qualified Hearings Commissioner. I have been involved with many community committees, sports and service clubs. I was appointed (by the Minister of Conservation) to the East Coast Hawkes Bay Conservation Board in 2004 for two three year terms. I serve as trustee for the Fibre and Fleece Trust and Opotiki Rotary Charitable Trust. The Council is now in sound financial position and able to develop and grow the district for the betterment of the whole community − young and old alike. I ask for the opportunity to complete the development work on the harbour entrance and inner harbour redevelopment which will turn Opotiki back into the thriving hub of the Eastern Bay that it once was.
