Salote (Justice of the Peace and Queens Service Medal) was born in Tonga and migrated to New Zealand in 1975. Her work in our community includes: Voluntary worker at the Mangere Citizen Advice Bureau, Former President of Tonga Gay and Lesbian Association in NZ; Former Vice Chair of South Auckland Tongan Association; Former member of the NZ Tonga Tourist Association; Beauty Pageant Director for Miss Apraxus; Tonga Rep for the Pacific Island Advisory Committee of Manukau City Council; Active Lay Preacher at Lotofaleia Methodist Church. Salote has great knowledge from her experience as a former Tenancy Services Officer and an Immigration Consultant for many years. Her priorities are: continuing to advocate for more affordable housing; providing strong support for arts and cultural activities; working with all sectors to keep a healthy residential and business community; better public transit services and environmentally responsible transportation; recognize the diverse ethnicities.
