Comment from Rosanne Hawarden - the President of Independent Citizens (iCitz)
We are expecting an interesting and strongly contested election with voters moving away from the left to the centre right. We have a strong team of
carefully selected, high calibre candidates, a good mix of elected councillors and community board members as well as new candidates.
We are fielding a strong Health Board team with myself as the iCitz Health Team leader, with all five candidates either health professionals or having extensive links with professions servicing the health industry.
Independent Citizens (iCitz) is a broad based grouping of independents. We tend to attract candidates from the political centre and fiercely guard our independence. No Independent Citizens candidate can be forced to vote in any particular way. He or she is able to exercise his/her own judgement. We do not enquire from our candidates what their political affiliations are.
We do not have a mayoral candidate and are not endorsing any candidates. Independent Citizens (iCitz) has no local or national political party affiliations.
Independent Citizens (iCitz) select, support and endorse quality candidates based on their own individual merits to ensure a brighter future for Canterbury through strong civic representation.
