Being born and raised in the village of Whakarewarewa provided exposure and experience in contributing to the wellbeing of whanau and hapu in the Marae setting.
This was both complimented and challenged by a unique and natural geothermal environment that demanded understanding and respect to co−exist harmoniously. Over the years this whakatipuranga provided a solid foundation for my personal and professional development in education, environmental development, social services, legal services, policy development and Treaty settlements.
The years of engagement variously with central regional and territorial authorities, has given me first hand experience and understanding of these entities that I believe will assist greatly in ensuring the mana of Te Arawa and other Iwi has legitimacy and credibility within the Regional Council.
