I have been residing at my own home in Lynfield since Dec 1997, and three years later, became a naturalised citizen. As a commercially published compiler of dictionaries in Chinese, English and Malay, I started CEM Translations, running it from my home for the past decade. Born in Malaya in 1951, I had received my early education there. Later, I graduated from Canterbury University in 1974 a year early, with a BE (Chem) First Class Honours degree as a Colombo Plan and Senior Scholar. Subsequently I worked for the Singapore and Australian governments, as well as in journalism, both in Malaysia and here.
