Richard moved to Woodend 10 years ago after living in Christchurch since 1962. Married to Diane for 35 years they have three children. Rick is a tutor for a Private Education Provider who provides second chance education to youth at risk and he is looking forward to retirement in the near future. This will allow him to follow his passion for golf at the Rangiora Golf Club. His retirement will also allow him to give time to the community in such programmes as the Woodend Emergency Response Team where he has taken a leadership role. Not afraid of facing issues Rick was influential in the revealing of Canadian conman John Davy, the newly appointed CEO of Maori Television and informing the then Government of Mr Davy's fraudulent activities. The 1992 petition to retain the Housing Corporation as a Government Department was presented to the House of Representatives under his name.
