Northland is a big, and diverse, rural community. It needs aggressive advocacy now, to keep and enhance the Health Services we have. I have spent half a lifetime representing and advocating for Rural communities in various capacities, including National Office of Federated Farmers, and twelve years as a Kaipara District Councillor, the last six years as Deputy Mayor. I know what is required to have one's voice heard. This experience, together with service on a number of boards has given me a good understanding of governance, an essential attribute for effective participation on District Health Boards. My wife and I have been farming here for 37 years, and from personal experience of Northland's Health service, know the importance of bricks, mortar and technology, coupled with good care, prevention and community involvement. Conflicts of Interest
To the best of my knowledge and belief, I have no conflicts of interest with the Northland District Health Board at the date of my notice of consent to being nominated as a candidate for membership for the board of the District Health Board, and I do not believe that any such conflicts of interest are likely to arise in future.
