I have lived in the ward for 10 years as a farmer and part time risk management consultant. Now retired. I am motivated to stand after going through councils building and planning consent process’s four times and being very unhappy with the culture of these departments. Common shortcomings include inadequate knowledge, lack of concern for the additional costs they create and too often taking the allowed 20 working days to make decisions, irrespective of work loads. This needs to be remedied from the top and I propose that the CEO be made accountable and be performance assessed on, creating a culture of Can do, How can I help, How can I be better at my job (from the applicants point of view). 

I stand for an efficient, low cost, responsive council, meeting our ratepayer’s expectations.
