My name is Renee Floyd and I am the youngest candidate for council this year, at 19 years of age. I was Head Girl of Wanganui Girls College, come from a long established Wanganui family and commute to Massey University. I am studying for a Bachelor of Sport & Exercise Science. It is vitally important to Wanganui’s future that we retain our achieving youth – that if they are studying at a tertiary institution, they come home when their studies are complete, find work and raise their family. We are a remarkable city. But Wanganui has lost population over the past 20 years and less people means higher rates, reduced health services, reduced jobs. I want to market and promote Wanganui as the best lifestyle and family option in NZ. And to offer youthful energy and new ideas around the council table. I will represent your best interests at all times.
