We moved here in 2005. My wife is Taranaki−bred and we've come home to live, bringing our son, daughter and three gorgeous grandchildren with us.

Born in Holland, I came to New Zealand on my OE at 18. I've been a labourer, seasonal worker, soldier, farmer, tourist operator, sales rep and retailer − I've been unemployed, self−employed, employee and employer.

For the last eight years, I've used those skills and experiences at Work and Income. My focus is on getting Stratford people into work, putting employers and employees together. Much of my work involves getting young people into training and employment, something I consider a priority.

I belong to several community organisations − Lions, RSA, Stratford Club, Grey Power and Stratford Singers.

I believe in strong families and communities, in working hard and doing what I can to make a difference.
