I have been concerned about the creeping rate rises and the spending of ratepayer’s money on inappropriate activities. I propose that the rates for next year be held at the present level and from then on increase by no more than the rate of inflation. I will question all council spending and always consider what is fair to the ratepayers and residents. I will revisit decisions to proceed with a grandiose cycleway and the proposed Chinese memorial.

 

As the main street is the front door to Paeroa I will push for further and better upgrading. Let’s modernised the town and make it an inviting place for travellers to stop. Let’s put a canopy over Mackay St and make it an area for markets, entertaining and people activities. Let’s promote Paeroa to attract new business, growth and new jobs.

 

I will be the ratepayer’s voice promoting fairness, growth and controlled spending.
