My continued interest in council activities is the reason for offering to represent the people of Wanganui at the council table. Having been a councillor for 6 terms (5 times as top poller) I see as an advantage and necessity. I have worked conscientiously within our community and have a proven track record. I believe in keeping an open mind on contentious issues, courage to speak up when necessary and to shut my mouth when in doubt. Progress over the whole district needs to be encouraged and our parks and reserves maintained to a high standard to ensure Wanganui remains a unique place to work, live and visit. I will lay my cards on the table, and having been in business, will oppose the sale of our assets e.g. forests and energy companies; instead I would ensure that they derive a return (profit) to reduce our overheads, rates and debt.
