I have a great deal of life experience, much of it in other parts of the country, and at times in other parts of the world. This enables me to overview, assess and analyse situations with considerable speed and to the necessary depth. Chairing one of the two large committees of Parliament, involving six diverse parties, taught me to be scathing of those who speak for the sake of appearances, but contribute little substance. I speak very little in both the Council and the Health Board, and then, only if I genuinely need clarification, or an important point needs to be made, or needs to be reinforced. It is how one votes that is important as far as I am concerned. The Council is incredibly more transparent than the Health Board, and I make no apologies for any hardline I adopt there.
