Raj has been involved in community work for over thirty years in three continents. He has been involved in Lions International for 26 years including terms as President of Point Chevalier Lions Club West Auckland. He is passionate about community work and has been involved with organizations such as Starship, Red Cross, Diabetes Auckland, Senior Citizens and also CAB as a Justice of Peace. He is an Engineering graduate with Masters in Business Administration. He has worked as Project manager for Zambian copper mines, Business Manager of two leading NZ telecommunications companies and currently in Real Estate. His wife is a teacher and son a medical student. He wants to bring new ideas and professionalism to the affairs of Whau and allow his fellow citizens the opportunity to have their contributions heard and considered. Personal Profile
Raj has been involved in community work for over thirty years in three continents including 26 years for Lions International. He has been a recipient of International President’s appreciation award twice and recently was President of Point Chevalier Lions and Zone Chairman of West Auckland. He has also been involved with organizations such as Starship, Red Cross, Diabetes Auckland, Senior Citizens and CAB as a Justice of Peace.
Raj is an Engineering graduate with Masters in Business Administration. He has worked as Project manager for copper mines and business manager for two leading NZ telecommunication companies. He is happily married with one son.His wife is a teacher & son a medical student.
Raj is passionate about making our community a safer place and plans to work closely with police and Neighbourhood support groups to make this possible. He has a special interest in youth issues and will work to create more facilities for youth in the community. Improving public transport in the Whau area is another important issue on his agenda
Living in Avondale, involved in community work in Blockhouse Bay & New Lynn & working in Green Bay, Raj demonstrates a firm commitment to the people of Whau. He wants to bring new ideas and professionalism to the local board.
