Bay of Plenty Regional Councillor 2004−2010: Former Auckland Regional Councillor, Company Director, Broadcaster, Justice of the Peace, Civil Marriage Celebrant. Trustee/Board Member of a number of community and charitable organisations. A North Shore City Councillor and Community Board member 1992−95: Auckland Regional Councillor 1995−2004; six years deputy chairman; chairman rates special committee and finance committee. 

As the Bay of Plenty continues to grow, and demand for services grows with it, there is an ongoing requirement that the Regional Council position itself to respond to those needs efficiently: bearing in mind the ongoing responsibility to balance the demands of growth with the ever increasing costs to the ratepayers.
