I am a family orientated person, married to Anne with daughter Claire and husband David, granddaughter Charlotte and daughter Melissa.
Most of my professional life has been spent living in Invercargill and during the last 20 years I have worked as General Manager of the Invercargill Branch of CCS and since 1995, the Chief Executive of Presbyterian Support Southland.
Over the years I have had significant involvement in community organisations, health and welfare advisory groups and arts/cultural groups.
I take a keen interest in all aspects of the community – social, economic, sport, recreation, arts and culture. I believe that it is these aspects that combine to make Invercargill a city that we can be proud of and a city where people of all ages can benefit from services, facilities and an environment in support of their lifestyle.
So for me, it's all about community
Skills and Experience I bring to the ILT Board
In addition to my own personal values around family, honesty, fairness and work ethic, I have gained significant knowledge and experience from my work and previous community involvement. This includes:
-
An excellent knowledge of community services and the challenges not-for-profit organisations face in delivering services to the community
-
A comprehensive knowledge of the social issues which communities face and the need to take account of the needs of all groups and cultures in our community
-
An up to date knowledge of governance, management and risk management in both commercial and not-for profit settings
-
An excellent knowledge of facility project development work and on-going facility management
-
An appreciation of the need to balance commercial realities with social outcomes
All of these are particularly relevant to the work of the ILT in their own operations and in the contributions the ILT are able to make in the form of community grants.
I ask for your support. Together we can make sure that we all receive the maximum benefit from the operation of the ILT.
