I am a Barrier resident and have been a member of our local Board for the past 6 years. The past term, our Board's Chairman. I have broad local and international business experience, having founded and managed a number of successful companies in NZ, and worked for an Australian public company as their NZ CEO for a number of years. I am a qualified Resource Consent Hearings Commissioner. Have a good understanding of District Plan regulatory issues and costs and continue to be a strong advocate for a better regulatory environment on the island. A new Local Board will have increased financial, local decision and community plan responsibilities under the new council. Strong community consultation needs to underpin key local decisions. Our community will face many new challenges under a new Council. The knowledge and experience I have gained would assist a new Board considerably during this transition period.
