I'm a 41 year−old lawyer and former policeman, living in Hillcrest with my wife and daughter. I've lived on the North Shore for 35 years. I'm a member of the Glenfield Community Board, and its former chairman. I'm optimistic and positive for the new local government structure. It offers a great opportunity for residents and communities to prosper. Local boards will be empowered much more than the present community boards. Prudent financial decision−making will be paramount. I firmly believe in proper governance, transparency and accountability and responsible and mature behaviour. We mustn't create unnecessary bureaucracy or bylaws. Traffic congestion must be reduced. Board members must work together, and I promise to do that despite any differences. I also promise to preserve our quality beaches, parks and walking and running tracks. Vote Nick Kearney: Local person, local values.
