I am standing for mayor and council because in spite of the threats facing the planet I know a pretty wonderful future is possible. My blueprint for Nelson: Mikewardformayor.tumblr.com spells out some of the initiatives that it will take to provide Nelsonians with the lifestyle choices to make Nelson wiser, safer, healthier, happier, affordable, sustainable, more fun and more beautiful. 

WOW, the Brook Sanctuary and our cycling and clean air and water initiatives have already demonstrated Nelsonians' willingness to lead and to do things differently. With vision and leadership Nelson could provide the rest of the world with inspiration and a desperately needed role model. I am an artist, adventurer and occasional politician with a great fondness for this community. My plea is that you vote for a mayor and Council with the ambition, vision, energy and creativity to create the kind of future our children deserve.
