Kia Ora, if voted into council I would focus on making real progress on dealing with the pollution issues surrounding Lake Horowhenua, the Manawatu River and our Coastline. It has taken HDC a long time to acknowledge these issues as a priority for the community's health and economic well−being. For five years I have voluntarily worked with Water and Environmental Care Association etc on these issues and understand how environmentally sustainable waste water solutions can protect all our natural resources for future generations.
With the waterways safe to fish and swim in, tourists would be more attracted to this beautiful area, bringing more revenue and opportunities for local workers, iwi and businesses in the near future.
I am a Mother of 2, Teacher, and Environmentalist, and would like to see youth resources developed, improved public transport, expansion of waste recycling and an honest, transparent council accountable to you, the ratepayers.
