I am a lawyer based in Waipawa. I have lived in CHB for 30 years and have children and grandchildren living locally. I have been involved in many community organisations. I have been a Councilor for 12 years.
There are a number of important issues facing Council in the next three years.
The proposed sewage schemes should have a minimal impact on the environment. The challenge is to ensure that the impact on rates is affordable. This will entail reducing costs in other areas such as solid waste, which currently costs ratepayers $1.2 million after the collection of charges and targeted rates.
The retention and maintenance of services, and sporting and cultural facilities is also important to the community.
Amalgamation could be an issue. I favour collaboration and sharing services with other Councils.
I have the experience, energy and enthusiasm to address these issues.
