As your Mayor for the past six years, it has been my honour to serve the Wanganui community in partnership with yourself. I have deliberately given Wanganui people a direct say in how we make our city and district even better - and that has led to new amenities like the Splash Centre, the riverfront walkway, the revamp of the airport, the new southern entranceway and the new Visitor Centre. As well, we have held rates at the rate of inflation, whilst dealing with the financial pressures of the $120 million wastewater/sewage scheme. For the next three years I offer the same energy, leadership, community participation and emphasis upon family friendly activities. I will seek to ensure the low rates policy is maintained, and to promote Wanganui as New Zealand's premier city. We have made massive strides together in improving Wanganui - let's keep that momentum going.
