Michael Bailey, a Police Sergeant with 33 years service in Law Enforcement, is still passionate about Manurewa, having lived and worked here for 47 years. He is immensely proud of improvements that have been made to the Manurewa town Centre and longs to continue the work that the Board have begun to return Manurewa to the vitality it once enjoyed as a family friendly area with a popular shopping centre. First elected to the Manurewa Community Board in 1998, Michael has served the community since then, latterly as the Chairman of the Manurewa Community Board. Michael, married to Sharren, has two adult sons. He has been Chairman of the Boards of Trustees of Manurewa East Primary, Greenmeadows Intermediate and The Manurewa High School. He is currently Chairman of Manurewa South Primary School and Manurewa Health Promoting Schools. A committed Christian he is active in a local Presbyterian Church.
