My name is Mary Gush. I am Maori and married with 2 Children and Grandchildren. I have lived in Otara for the past 47 years and done most of my schooling here. As a current Community Board Member my experience is widespread. My voluntary work has been in Otara Kindergartens, Neighbourhood Support, Civil Defence and Community Advocacy. I was employed as Centre Manager for Otara Town Centre for 5 years and I started the first successful Ambassador scheme in NZ. I currently manage the Te Puke o Tara Community Centre doing what I love best, working with my Community. The reason I am standing for the Local Board is to ensure, as I have always done, that the voice of our Community is heard, especially on issues such as No User Pays for swimming pools and libraries and affordable Rates. I am seeking your support to make this a reality.
