Upper Hutt has been my home for 40 years. I have four daughters, 12 grandchildren. I am an artist, art tutor, company director. I opened “Archibald’s” in 1990 and this gives me a good connection to the community. Three years ago I ran for Council as I felt Upper Hutt needed more interest in the way of art, sculptures and colour in the CBD. With experience of those years I now understand the agendas I consider most important: keeping rates as low as possible at this time of economic downturn with a lot of people struggling to make ends meet, exploring ways to entice new specialist boutique shops into Main Street and creating places for people to enjoy and meander through our township, rain harvesting, sustainability and caring for our environment, supporting viable community projects. Our city must grow and be an attractive, affordable, safe place to live for everyone.
