Councillor Mark Donnelly is seeking election to the
new Auckland Super City Council.
Mark has a proven track record as an effective and
respected Councillor. He has 6 years experience as
an Auckland City Councillor, including chairing the
Strategy and Governance Committee for 3 years.
Mark is passionate about protecting and enhancing
our communities. He is adamant that the new
Council must address the issues which currently
allow the destruction of our residential and business
communities. This is a key priority for Mark.
Mark is a Chartered Accountant who has held senior
finance roles both here and overseas. He currently has
his own consultancy firm.
Mark grew up in Blockhouse Bay, and was educated
at Marcellin College, and then Auckland University.
He is married to Karen, who is a secondary school
teacher who taught at Marcellin College for almost
20 years. They have two boys, James and Matthew.
Mark will bring to the new Super City Council:
• His years of council experience
• His many years of community involvement
• His strong financial and business background
Mark has been endorsed by Metro Magazine as part of their “Dream Team”!
Of the four sitting Councillors they only had time for Mark.
They said he was "a thoughtful politician who, as an independent, has had to work hard to construct an effective role on a very partisan council"
On Casey/Fryer/Goldsmith, they said:
"..at Metro we believe all three are part of the problem, not the solution: political point-scoring appears to interest them more than getting the job done."
This was a thorough analysis. After sending out questionnaires, they consulted widely with people who follow local body politics, and then sat down with a small group of experts.
They came up with 8 on the left, 8 on the right and 9 in the middle.
Top 5 Issues
- Protect our communities with zero tolerance
for graffiti and crime.
We deserve to have safer
streets particularly for our children and elderly
people. - Protect and enhance our communities
by addressing issues which currently allow the
destruction of our residential and business
communities. - Provide sensible transport solutions
that offer true benefits and meet the needs of the wider community. - Ensure costs are controlled.
Rates need to be affordable and spending decisions need to be sensible, appropriate and provide real value for the community. - Allow for greater consultation,
particularly in the early stages of planning to allow communities greater and more meaningful input. This inclusion will allow good workable ideas to come to the fore.
