J.P., M.P.S. I bring Community Pharmacy and Primary Health experience to the District Health Board from my daily contact with many people and their health needs. I am enthusiastic and committed to ensuring we succeed in planning for the burgeoning needs created by our 'Baby Boom' generation as we become the 'largest health challenge ever'. In the Bay of Plenty we will continue to lead the way with our faster growing older population. It is clear that change will be significant in both Primary and Secondary Health to meet our expectations from limited resources. Apart from earlier intervention, we need to continue to influence better health education and prevention, alongside contributing factors in housing, employment and our environment. I am committed to the recognition and well being of the thousands of dedicated health workers in our community who are sometimes unfairly maligned by sweeping criticisms of our health system. m.ardundel@xtra.co.nz
