Tawa is a great community in which to live and we are fortunate to have a community board representing our interests.  I am privileged to have been part of that board since December 2009 and would appreciate the opportunity to serve a further term.  I previously served on the board 2005-07.

My main responsibilities on the board have been producing the quarterly newsletter which is distributed to the whole Tawa community, organising the Tawa Community Civic Awards this past June, serving on the roading group and the grants committee.  I also do my best to address other concerns which may be raised by members of the community.

Various community involvement:

- maintaining tawalink.com, Tawa’s community website

- sending a monthly email newsletter to 900 Tawa addresses

- co-organiser of the recent “Spring into Tawa” Market Day

- Tawa Ratepayers’ Association committee member

- Tawa College Board of Trustees

- Rotary Club of Tawa

- Tawa Baptist Church

A vote for Malcolm Sparrow is a vote for someone who already works hard for the Tawa community.

Top 5 Issues

  1. Tawa does not currently have any "burning issues". However matters on which I do keep tabs are:
    - staying on top of graffiti
    - policing in Tawa
    - parking issues around Tawa
    - the proposed Porirua Stream walkway

There's no point in coming up with a list of 'election promises'. For me that always brings to mind the politician who, when seeking re-election, assured his voters "I kept all the promises I intended to keep."

Personal Profile

I have been in Tawa for 14 years and do what I can to ensure that it remains a great place in which to live, because I really believe it is.
