Top 5 Issues
- Safer Community
We want safer communities for all age groups and walks of life and ensure the community feels safe by creating a safe environment for them to live in and enjoy.
Some of our work will involve a continuation of street lighting projects (particularly in hot spot areas of concern); no drinking zones with signage; continued education with our children and drivers on safer rules for pedestrians and vehicle movement; ensuring a culture of caring and respecting our elderly so they may be safe in our community by engaging organisations to assist in getting information to our elderly etc. - Preserve Community Assets
This is very important to us. We will ensure that we will not sell or lease any of our precious assets that are valuable and meaningful to the social well being of all those who use our public facilities.
We will preserve Porirua’s parks and reserves. We will not bargain these assets for the name of profit. Our assets are our history, identity and are landmarks for our future generations to follow in our footsteps. - Community and Private partnerships to encourage sustainable gain
We want to see right partnerships and relationships in our community which will encourage new businesses, new mentors and new collaborative partnerships. We will develop initiatives for the all wards and their resources to exchange and create more resources for all people. - Transparency and Accountability
We are stronghead about honesty, integrity and the caretaking of public money and resources which we are responsible for.
We will model high standards of transparency and responsibility and expect this from elected members. We expect our community to follow our lead and will find opportunities for the community to hold representatives accountable by ensuring transparency and accountability.
