Personal Profile
Auckland Council Albany Ward
I have served two terms as a City Councillor. I will work to ensure that the new council is focused on getting value for money.
I have 3 daughters and a 15 year background in nursing. I have extensive community governance experience and am currently Chairman of both West Auckland Hospice and Western Refuge. I am also Chairman of the Waitakere City Council Northern Area Urban Development Committee and a Director of Waitakere City Holdings Company. I have significant experience working at a regional level in local government.
It will be my priority to protect citizens and ratepayers from waste, inefficiency and to ensure transparency in council.
I am passionate about this community and its people. I am optimistic about our region’s future as we face the challenges of bringing Auckland together. However, our local communities will need strong voices, experienced leadership and professional skills to ensure this wide spread ward of West Harbour, Hobsonville, Whenuapai, Herald Island, Greehhithe, Albany, East Coast Bays , Hibiscus Coast/Whangaparoa and north to Waiwera are not forgotten.
Please feel free to contact me at anytime. I am happy to answer any of your questions or meet at anytime to hear what is important to you.
I am standing for election to represent our community and would appreciate your support
Waitemata District Health Board
Waitemata District faces huge challenges in meeting our health needs in the coming years due to rapid population growth. The board needs committed, knowledgeable and experienced members who will steward taxpayers money carefully whilst providing the world class healthcare that we deserve.
I trained as a Registered and Obstetric Nurse at Auckland Hospital. I practised for 15 years in a variety of settings from Surgery, Asthma reseach, management of Rest Homes and a Private Hospital and GP Nursing. During that time I gained a very good understanding of our community's healthcare needs. With my governance experience over the last 10 years I believe my combined knowledge and ability has me well placed to make good decisions regarding our health needs. I also believe we need a female representative who has an understanding of health issues from the western part of the electorate. As a past member of Waitakere Healthlink I feel I am well placed to represent that voice.
Waitemata is the largest DHB in New Zealand with some of the greatest need. It is time that the board had some fresh thinking in place to realise the health goals we all want; lower waiting times for operations, 24 hour emergency care at both hospitals, working conditions that attract and keep the best doctors and nurses available, a consistently high standard of patient care, the best equipment and clean facilities. I would appreciate your support. Vote number 1 for Health Board
Waitakere Licensing Trust
I have been a Trustee of Waitakere Licensing Trust since 2001. I have worked with you and for you in this community for many years listening to you and representing your views and supporting the great work done in our schools, sports clubs, arts and service organisations. I have stewarded the Licensing Trust business prudently as part of the governance team so that it is a viable business returning a profit to West Auckland. I would appreciate your support.

John Banks, because we need someone who has the ability to work with the current government to maximise the government\\\'s investment in Auckland. We need someone who can lead prudent fiancial management and someone with experience. I also like John. Granted he can be abrasive at times however pussy footing around won\\\'t get Auckland moving.
