I am standing as an independent candidate for the Waikouaiti Coast Community Board. As the birthplace of Otago the whole of the Waikouaiti Coast is an area rich in history. My aim is to promote the whole area while maintaining a balance between progress in terms of community development and the retention of the uniqueness of the region. I attended Otago University in the early 1970's, graduating with a commerce degree and over my working life have acquired an extensive knowledge of the business sector and latterly the public sector. This experience has led to an excellent understanding of the issues which are important to smaller communities. I am currently Chairman of the East Otago Events Centre Management committee, Chairman of the Progress of Waikouaiti Area committee, a Director of Invercargill City Forests Ltd, and a registered Mentor with Business Mentors NZ. I am also a Chartered Accountant (Retired).
